Ever Wonder What EDF Cohort 3 Fellows Are Doing in Communities?

When we talk about empowering the next generation of leaders, the true test of success isn't just what happens in the classroom it is what happens when those lessons are taken out into the real world.

In the EDF program, this vital transition happens during the Community Action & Mentorship phase. Over the course of two months, our EDF Cohort 3 fellows stepped up to the challenge of translating their classroom knowledge into practical, community-driven solutions.

But what exactly is Community Action, and how does it work in practice?

The Core of Community Action

At its heart, Community Action is about mobilization and application. During this two-month phase, fellows do not just plan; they execute. They pilot projects within their own communities, mobilize their peers for collective development, and address pressing local needs. Throughout this journey, they receive continuous mentorship to help them refine their approaches and strengthen their leadership and collaboration skills.

For EDF Cohort 3, this phase was divided into three specialized tracks, allowing fellows to create targeted, tangible impact across different sectors:

1. Agriculture & Farming

Fellows in this track focused on the roots of community survival and prosperity. By launching community-based agricultural projects, they fostered food security, promoted sustainable farming practices, and created new avenues for income generation.
