On November 27, 2025, TICO in partnership with Health Development Initiative (HDI), conducted a high-impact training for employees and employers from across Rwanda. The session brought together HR Officers, CEOs, government representatives, youth leaders, and professionals from various sectors.
The training focused on practical approaches to preventing violence, harassment, discrimination, and favoritism in the workplace, issues that continue to affect workers’ well-being and professional growth.
Senior officials from the Ministry of Public Service and Labour (MIFOTRA) were also in attendance, demonstrating the government’s commitment to promoting inclusive and dignified working environments across the country.
While officially opening the training, TICO’s Executive Director, Mr. HABINSHUTI Egide, emphasized that the initiative was specifically designed to deepen understanding of the ILO Convention 190, the landmark international standard that addresses violence and harassment in the world of work.
We developed this training to help both employees and employers fully understand their rights and obligations at work, especially regarding the prevention of harassment and other harmful practices as outlined in ILO C190.” Egide said

Mr. Habinshuti highlighted that all workers, whether formally registered or not—are equal before the law, and no one should face discrimination based on gender, race, age, disability, or any other identity.
The training took place during the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, under the theme “A Family Free from Violence.” The session served as a timely reminder that preventing violence and harassment in the workplace is an essential part of building violence-free homes and communities.

The training concluded with a renewed commitment from participants to champion fairness, respect, and accountability within their respective institutions.
