Efforts to expand opportunities for young entrepreneurs in Rwanda received a boost as TICO engaged in discussions with Mr. Innocent Gatete, Director of Strategic Projects Implementation at the Development Bank of Rwanda (BRD) PLC, on potential areas of collaboration and the future of youth-led innovation.

The meeting provided an opportunity for TICO to share progress and upcoming plans for its flagship Entrepreneurial Design Fellowship (EDF) Program, including preparations for the launch of EDF Cohort 4. Discussions centered on fostering entrepreneurship, innovation, and skills development among young people, while exploring practical ways to support them in transforming ideas into impactful community-based solutions.
The exchange highlighted the growing importance of partnerships in creating an enabling environment for youth innovation and enterprise development. Participants reflected on the challenges and opportunities facing young entrepreneurs and the role that institutions can play in nurturing the next generation of changemakers.
Mr. Gatete offered valuable insights and recommendations drawn from BRD’s experience in supporting Rwanda’s development priorities. His guidance is expected to contribute to strengthening the EDF Program and enhancing its capacity to equip young innovators with the skills, networks, and resources needed to succeed.
“Our engagement with BRD was both insightful and encouraging. The guidance and perspectives shared will play an important role in strengthening the Entrepreneurial Design Fellowship and ensuring that more young innovators have access to the support they need to transform their ideas into sustainable solutions,” said the Executive Director of TICO.

As preparations for EDF Cohort 4 move forward, TICO remains committed to building partnerships that empower young people to develop innovative solutions, create sustainable ventures, and contribute meaningfully to Rwanda’s socio-economic development.
The organization looks forward to continued engagement with BRD and other stakeholders as it advances its mission of fostering entrepreneurship and innovation among Rwanda’s youth.
